Issues and reports
Issues and reports — your team's work hub
One place where reception, managers and the cleaning team report property issues, link them to reservations and make sure nothing gets lost.
Updated: 24 Oct 2026
Issues and reports is a new Simplevent module that brings order to the daily work of your rental team. Instead of phone calls, emails, SMS messages and sticky notes, every problem lands in one place — with a property, status, priority and a full history of actions.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Every report is linked to a specific property.
- When a report is created from a reservation, it is linked to that reservation too, so you always know which stay it concerns.
- Reception and managers only see the properties they are allowed to access.
- Nothing gets lost in email threads, and the team works from one shared task list.
WHO CAN REPORT?
1. Cleaners (CLEANER permission) — directly from the calendar, from the reservation details.
2. Managers and admins — from the issues centre and from the calendar.
3. Property owners — for their own properties.
4. Guests — reporting from a reservation link is being prepared as the next step.
MANAGER NOTIFICATIONS
When a new issue is created, managers responsible for that property receive an EventEntry notification in the bell. You do not have to check /issues manually — new issues appear in notifications immediately.
ASSIGNING A TASK TO A SERVICE USER
1. A manager opens the issue in /issues and clicks "Assign".
2. They search for a user who has SERVICE permission for that specific property.
3. They can add extra details to the email.
4. After clicking "Assign and send email", the task is assigned and the service user receives an email with full details: property, place, issue description, priority, report date and guest departure date.
5. The service user sees the assigned task in /issues and can change its status to "In progress" or "Resolved".
HOW TO REPORT AN ISSUE FROM THE CALENDAR (CLEANER)
1. Open the calendar and click a reservation.
2. The details show dates, guest count and internal notes.
3. Click the "Report issue" button.
4. Fill in the title, category, priority and description.
5. Submit the report. It is automatically linked to the property and the selected reservation.
WHAT DOES A REPORT CONTAIN?
- Title and detailed description.
- The property where the problem occurred.
- Optional link to a reservation.
- Category, e.g. plumbing, electrical, cleanliness, equipment.
- Priority: low, normal, high, urgent.
- Status: open, in progress, resolved, closed.
- Reporter and report date.
- Space for an assignee and photos (future expansion).
THE /issues CENTRE
- Stat cards: all, open, in progress, resolved.
- Filtering by property and status.
- Search by title, description, property or reporter.
- Quick status changes without leaving the list.
- Linked reservation and report date displayed on each item.
HOW ACCESS WORKS
- The /issues page requires the ISSUES module (in the Pro or Enterprise plan; an admin can also enable it manually in Modules).
- ADMIN sees every issue.
- An owner sees issues for their own properties.
- MANAGER or ADMIN permission grants access only to the properties assigned to that user.
- SERVICE permission grants access only to issues assigned to that user.
- CLEANER can report issues for their properties without seeing the whole issues centre.
TEAM BEST PRACTICES
- Agree on one priority standard: urgent = safety risk or flooding, high = blocks the stay, normal = to be handled soon.
- Review open and urgent reports every morning.
- Put the exact location in the description: "upstairs bathroom", "kitchen sink", "bedroom, left lamp".
- After a repair, set the status to resolved and close it after verification.
- During shift handover, check open issues — it is the fastest way to pass work on smoothly.
BENEFITS FOR RECEPTION AND RENTAL OPERATIONS
- Fewer calls and fewer "did anyone report this?" questions.
- Faster response to faults and less risk of costly damage.
- A full history of who reported what and when.
- Better organisation for the cleaning company.
- A better guest experience and fewer negative reviews.
HOW TO START
1. Enable the ISSUES module in your plan or in admin → Modules.
2. Give your team the right permission types: CLEANER, SERVICE, MANAGER or ADMIN.
3. Tell the team that reports go to the /issues centre.
4. Agree on priority rules and a daily review.
5. Use the reservation link so you always know which stay a problem belongs to.
