Cleaning
Cleaning — requests, statuses and team workflow
One place for cleaning requests linked to a property and reservation. Managers assign, cleaners update status, and owners can request cleaning from a reservation.
Updated: 24 Oct 2026
Cleaning in Simplevent organises the work of your cleaning team and reception. Every request is linked to a property and, when created from a reservation, to the specific guest stay.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Managers see every cleaning request in one place.
- Cleaners see only the tasks assigned to them.
- Statuses show what is to do, in progress and done.
- The reservation link shows guest arrival and departure dates.
- Assigning a task sends an email to the cleaner.
WHO CAN USE IT?
1. Managers and admins — see all requests, create them and assign cleaners.
2. Cleaners — see assigned tasks and update their status.
3. Owners — can request cleaning from a reservation.
4. Guests — public reporting is not required; the site works on the same database and records can be created directly.
CLEANING STATUSES
- To do (PENDING) — the request exists but cleaning has not started.
- In progress (IN_PROGRESS) — the cleaner has started work.
- Done (DONE) — cleaning has been completed.
- Not set — the reservation has no cleaning request yet.
HOW DOES A MANAGER CREATE AND ASSIGN A REQUEST?
1. Open a reservation in the calendar.
2. Click the cleaning icon next to internal notes.
3. Pick a cleaner from users with CLEANER permission for that property.
4. Add notes, e.g. "linen for 4 guests, extra towels".
5. Save. The cleaner receives an email and a CleaningBell notification.
THE /cleaning CENTRE
- stat cards: all, to do, in progress, done,
- property and status filters,
- search by property, person and notes,
- assigning and changing status,
- resending the assignment email to the cleaner.
CLEANER WORKFLOW IN THE CALENDAR
1. Open the calendar and click a reservation.
2. The details include the cleaning status section.
3. If the request is assigned to you, click "Start cleaning" or "Finish cleaning".
4. If the status is not set, you can start cleaning — the system creates/claims the request for you.
5. When you finish, the manager receives a status notification.
PERMISSIONS
- ADMIN sees everything.
- MANAGER/ADMIN permission sees requests for assigned properties and can assign.
- CLEANER sees only tasks assigned to them.
- OWNER sees requests for their properties and can request cleaning.
- The CLEANING module is included in the Free plan and does not require extra assignment.
NOTIFICATIONS
- Managers receive EventEntry notifications for new requests and cleaner status changes.
- Cleaners receive an EventEntry and an email when assigned.
- CleaningBell shows only cleaning notifications.
BEST PRACTICES
- Assign tasks before the guest checks out.
- Put guest count, cleaning standard and extra supplies in the notes.
- Cleaners should set "In progress" when starting and "Done" when finished.
- Managers should review "To do" requests every day.
